Government Affairs
For REALTORS®, there are direct and indirect factors that determine their level of success in the business. While many make or break their careers based on the amount of work put into gaining clients and making sure their transactions close; the reality is that a business environment must exist that is conducive to being able to perform the job well and receive a fair compensation.

The local, state and national associations to which REALTORS® belong work in tandem to ensure that its members compete in a fair and equitable industry. Whether it is national issues like keeping banks out of real estate, state issues like increases to the real estate transfer tax, or local issues like changes to municipalities’ point-of-sale reassessment policies, these organizations lobby to ensure that REALTORS® and homebuyers/home sellers interests are paramount.

Past Chairman of the Suburban West REALTORS® Association, Heidi Bullita, sums it up best, “They are our conduit and our connection to those who make the decisions which affect how we do business.”
