Designation and Certificate courses provide students with advanced topics to reinforce basic skills while also staying abreast of current trends and issues. A Designation or Certification is earned by completing a national program of specialized education. Surveys show that licensees with a designation earn significantly more than those without. Increased income is a direct result of the knowledge gained from these courses and networking with other students. Most courses require a passing grade on a written examination at the end of classes.

Each of the classes provides credit towards a Designation or Certification. Students do not have to be designation candidates to take these classes.

A designation is earned by completing a national program of specialized and advanced education for the licensed REALTOR®. It involves intense study, covering many special aspects of real estate. The Association of REALTORS® School offers designation courses all year round.

The Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission is developing 14 hour mandatory continuing education course content for all licensees in their first renewal cycle. It is our understanding that this will affect anyone licensed on or after December 1, 2007. The mandatory course must be completed by May 31, 2010. At press time, no classes had been approved to satisfy the requirement. Updates will be posted to this website and published in the Weekly News and Education Newsletter as they become available.
