In Pennsylvania, broker licensees must acquire a prescribed level of professional real estate education. Fulfillment of the education requirement demonstrates that the salesperson has the knowledge to negotiate with or aid a person in locating or obtaining real estate; negotiate the price and financing for real estate; manage real estate; represent him or herself to be a real estate consultant or counselor; undertake to promote the sale, lease or other exchange of real estate, undertake to perform a comparative market analysis and employ sales persons to assist in these acts.
The Association of REALTORS® School now offers licensees the opportunity to obtain the broker or associate broker designation or to simply enhance their professional career with the knowledge contained in the courses provided. Credits taken toward the broker designation are valid for up to ten (10) years from the date taken.

The Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission is developing 14 hour mandatory continuing education course content for all licensees in their first renewal cycle. It is our understanding that this will affect anyone licensed on or after December 1, 2007. The mandatory course must be completed by May 31, 2010. At press time, no classes had been approved to satisfy the requirement. Updates will be posted to this website and published in the Weekly News and Education Newsletter as they become available.
