Code of Ethics Requirement
As a REALTOR®, you have pledged to adhere to the Code of Ethics. To ensure that members continue to be up-to-date with this important commitment, the National Association of REALTORS® requires all members to complete 2.5 hours of Code of Ethics training every 4 years. By holding yourself to this higher standard, you are relaying to your fellow practitioners and members of the public that you conduct yourself professionally and with courtesy. The current Quadrennial Requirement deadline is December 31, 2008.
Have you already completed your Code of Ethics training?
Members may already be current with their Code of Ethics requirement. Some possibilities are completion of the New Member Orientation program, attending a Mock Ethics Hearing, or even completing certain courses. To check on the status of your COE completion, please click here. Once logged in, access Education Information and then click on Education Tracking. When in that section, look for the category item Code of Ethics 2005- 2008. If the status says completed, you are in compliance. If it says pending, you must complete the requirement still.
Failure to complete the required course in the time allotted results in termination of membership in NAR, PAR, and Suburban West REALTORS® Associaton.
Upcoming Code of Ethics Training
To assist members with completing their Code of Ethics, the Suburban West REALTORS® Association has the following options for its REALTOR® members to fulfill the requirement:
Free Code of Ethics Training Courses
The Association is also offering FREE Code of Ethics Training seminars at the Association office in Malvern. These seminars are designed to explore the various parts of the Code of Ethics and how they apply to REALTORS® and the real estate business.
Code of Ethics credit is provided to each member who attends the Code of Ethics Training course in its entirety. There will be no exam at the end of the course.

MCE Classes that Offer Code of Ethics Credit
What better way in these busy times to kill two birds with one stone? The Association of REALTORS® School also has several courses that offer renewal credit as well as Code of Ethics credit. The courses that offer the two for one credits are as follows:

NAR Online Course
For those members who are unable to attend the sessions listed above and are comfortable with online training, the National Association of REALTORS® offers a free online course for REALTORS® to complete their Code of Ethics requirement. In order to satisfy the requirement, members must pass the exam at the end of the course.

COE Completed Outside of Suburban West REALTORS® Associaton
Members who complete their COE training outside of Suburban West or the NAR website must provide a certificate of completion or a transcript from the course provider. The Association is authorized by NAR to approve these classes provided that they meet the learning objectives prescribed by NAR.
