Pennsylvania Real Estate License Renewal Credits
All Pennsylvania real estate licensees (salesperson, associate broker, broker) must renew their license every two years. The current renewal period began June 1, 2014 and ends May 31, 2016. The Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission requires all real estate licensees (including brokers and associate brokers) to complete 14 elective hours of education each renewal period. There are no mandatory topics for this renewal period, except where noted below*. For most licensees, all coursework may be completed in elective topics approved by the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission. Exceptions are listed below:
- *Notice for Recent Licensees* The Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission has developed 14 required hours of mandatory continuing education course content for all licensees in their first renewal cycle. This provision affects anyone licensed on or after December 1, 2013. The mandatory course must be completed by May 31, 2016. The Association of REALTORS® School offers this required course in the classroom and online.
- *New or reactivated Pennsylvania Licensees* – INITIAL RENEWAL PERIOD ONLY – If the first license was issued in the last six months of the 14-16 renewal period (December 1, 2015 – May 31, 2016), the licensee does NOT have to complete continuing education. However, the licensee must complete the renewal application and pay the appropriate fees to the Real Estate Commission.
If you have questions about the requirements for renewing a real estate license, please contact Paula Tansey at email@example.com or call 610-560-4900.
