June is National
Homeownership Month
Once again, the Suburban West REALTORS
Association is pleased to join a number of local, state and national
organizations in recognizing June as National Homeownership Month. As the
financial news on housing dominates the national headlines, it is
especially timely for this recognition as a reminder of the overall value
homeownership provides our local communities and our country. As REALTORS
and Affiliates whose livelihood is directly related to this concept, we
hope that you too will reflect on the overall importance of homeownership
and especially its emotional value to consumers.
On Tuesday, on behalf of Suburban West REALTORS Association,
Tish Maloney, Secretary/Treasurer of the Board of Directors, was in Media
to receive a proclamation from the Delaware County Council, recognizing the
importance of homeownership and relaying the various programs that are
currently in place to help residents realize the dream of owning their own
home. To view the proclamation, please click
here.
The Suburban West REALTORS Association has compiled a
comprehensive list of local, state and national housing programs that you
can point your potential client to so that they may receive assistance with
the purchase of a home. To access the list, please click

Association Seeking
Nominees for Board of Directors
The Suburban West REALTORS Association
requests that members who are interested in running for an open position on
the Board of Directors or would like to nominate another member who they
believe would be a good candidate notify the Association by next Friday,
June 20. The process of choosing nominees for the Board of Directors is
extremely important to the organization as the Board members serve as
spokesmen for the profession locally.
It is the goal of the Association to attract the most
qualified and desirable slate of candidates who each can devote the time
and energy to effectively serve the membership. There are four REALTOR
positions on the Board that will be contested in this election, with the
four candidates who garner the most votes being elected. The election for
the Board begins in early September and culminates with the General
Membership Meeting on October 23. Prior to and during the election,
candidates are equally promoted by the Association through the Weekly News
Service, the REALTOR News and on the Association's website.
For more information on the process or to provide a name of a

Professionalism
Tip: Time is of the Essence
All dates referred
to for performance in the Agreement of Sale are binding and failure to act
within the time required puts that party in breach of the contract.
REALTORS can and should take care to assist the client in choosing time
frames that are reasonable and deadlines that fall on days when the
required act can actually be performed. Be mindful of counter offers.
Recheck all dates and times frames when counter offers are made so that the
client is still working with a reasonable and accountable time period and
date(s).

your choice.
A year-long series
of brief recommendations to promote REALTOR safety in the office and out in
the field.
Be prepared-to leave
the scene. Part of being
prepared to deal with a threatening situation is having "an out."
Prepare a scenario in advance so that you can leave-or you can encourage
someone who makes you uncomfortable to leave. Examples: Your cell phone or
pager went off and you have to call your office, you left some important
information in your car, or another agent with buyers is on his way.
