Service is an exclusive benefit available to members of the Suburban
West REALTORS Association. Featuring both Association news and local
real estate industry information, the Weekly News is a service meant
to benefit all members of the organization.
County Profiles Available
There are many resources and tools that can assist in a
transaction. One significant resource are community profiles of
municipalities. The Suburban West REALTORS Association wants to
alert members that Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties all
produce publications with detailed statistics and information on the
municipalities in their are geographic area.
Chester County recently released a new six volume series of
Community Profiles broken down by school district areas. Within each
is specific information on the municipalities in the area. Each
profile includes information on population, housing, land use and
development, transportation, economy, government and community
facilities. A complete set of profiles is $50 and each volume is $12

In April, Delaware County released the 81st edition of the
Delaware County TODAY/Almanac. The publication features detailed
information about the municipalities and general information about
the county. The cost of the publication is 6.95 and bulk discounts
are available. To order, print off the attached
form and mail with check or cash to Delaware County
TODAY/Almanac, P.O. Box 1888, Media, PA 19063.
Montgomery County has also produced reports and a series on
future planning in the county. Additional information on their

Become a Key Contact To Your Municipality
Do you attend your local township’s meetings? Do you have a
friend of neighbor who is involved at the municipal level? Do you
take an interest in what is happening in your community? If so, the
RLA has a unique opportunity for you to be involved without being
overwhelmed with responsibilities.
The REALTORS Legislative Alliance is pleased to introduce our
Municipal Key Contacts Program. This program provides our members a
unique opportunity to become involved in the areas of government
that directly impact the communities where they live and work. In
the event of a major issue of concern for REALTORS in the area, the
Municipal Key Contact will be briefed by the RLA staff and asked to

Essential of Real Estate Auctions on September 28
Are you looking for an innovative and effective method of
selling real estate? In “Essentials of Real Estate Auctions” you
will learn how auctions provide a unique opportunity that benefits
sellers, buyers and REALTORS. To highlight just a few of the many
benefits, consider that in a real estate auction, property is sold
more quickly, eliminates negotiation hurdles, and assures that
property is sold at true market value. This new course is being
taught by Robert Frame, REALTOR®, Attorney and Auctioneer. In this
course, Mr. Frame will share with you his knowledge and experience
with auctions as a tool for selling and purchasing property. To

Beginning with this course in September, the Association of
REALTORS School will provide a monthly class that highlights a
current industry issue and trend. These classes are intended to be
timely and provide relevent information to further your career.
Additonal courses on topics like open houses and ethics, title
insurance, and retirement planning will be scheduled for future
months.
Appraiser List Now Online Association Seeking Notification of Attorney Members,
Property Manager Members
Following up on a message posted three weeks ago, the
Association has now posted its initial listing of Appraiser members
on the website. It is available in the Find a REALTOR or Affiliate
Section and can be accessed by clicking
here. Note that this listing will also be included in future
editions of the hard copy membership roster.
In addition to our listing of Appraisers, the Association is
seeking to identify members who are also attorneys or property
managers. We intend to also list these individuals on the same page
and in the member roster. If you are actively an attorney or
property manager and would like to be listed, please contact Steve

Commercial/Investment Marketing Exchange Meeting on Friday,
August 11
C/I Marketing Exchange will next convene at the Association’s
office in Malvern from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Friday, August 11.
This month’s meeting will feature a presentation on the “1031
Exchange Made Easy” by Margo McDonnell 1031 Corp. Inc. And, as
always, it will also feature an opportunity to network with upwards
of 30 other members and discuss any “haves” and “wants” of your
clients.

Reminders
Learn to Effectively Communicate Housing Market
Conditions--Pricing and evaluating residential property has a
significant effect on many aspects of the real estate transaction.
As the market normalizes it becomes even more important to clearly
understand and communicate existing conditions in the housing
market, and prepare for the role that property pricing plays in
closing the transaction. GRI 501, Pricing and Evaluating
Residential Property on August 22 will prepare licensees to
recognize and translate these conditions to their clients. The
course is an approved elective for the GRI designation, provides 7
hours of continuing education credit for Appraiser license renewal
for 2005-2007. Students seeking continuing education credit for
their Real Estate License for the 2006-2008 periods should ask at
registration if these credits have been obtained. Class will be held
at the Association of REALTORS School in Malvern. Tuition is $135
which includes all course materials and lunch. To register call PRI

Map Books Available--Still needing to update your
TREND Map Book? The Suburban West REALTORS Association has the
latest Map Books available for $25.00 Replacing the 2002 edition,
the new book features updated roads and landmarks, a new
user-friendly size, and an interactive CD-ROM Street Guide. Most
importantly, coordinates in Pennsylvania are automatically populated
for most new listings making the field much more reliable to search
for in the MLS and to find properties using map grid coordinates. To
