June is National Homeownership Month
Homeownership is essential to the fabric of our nation. As
such, the Suburban West REALTORS Association is pleased to promote
National Homeownership Month in June in tandem with the efforts of
the National Association of REALTORS.
On a local level, the organization has issued a press release
to local media outlets. To access the release, please click

Kane, Jim Ryal and Bill Worthington were on hand last week at the
Media Courthouse to receive a Resolution from the Council of
Delaware County declaring June to be National Homeownership Month.
The Resolution reinforces the benefits of homeownership and
references specifically the success of the counties Homeownership
First Program. More information on the Resolution can be accessed

Association Liaison Program Launched
As part of the Suburban West REALTORS Association's efforts
to enhance our connection with members, the organization has
recently launched an Association Liaison program. In June, the
office manager of all member offices was approached about nominating
an agent in their office to serve as a liaison between the office
and the Association. We are pleased that 56 offices have named
Liaisons and hope that more will jump on board throughout the
year.
On June 8, the Association hosted a "Kick-Off Event" for 30
of the liaisons. Those in attendance learned that their primary
function is to be an intermediary between the organization and their
fellow agents--distributing information from the Association to the
agents and providing feedback from members to the organization. This
important role would be backed up by the staff and a number of
exclusive resources.
The Association believes this program will further strengthen
the level of communication between the members and the organization
and we are looking forward to updating the membership on its
progress. If your office manager is interested in appointing an
Association Liaison for your office, please contact Mary Lim at mlim@suburbanwestrealtors.com.
Eddystone Gives Notice of Ordinances that Would Modify
U&O Fees, Require Sprinklers
The Borough of Eddystone gave notice of two proposed
ordinances which could impact property transfer in the borough.
Ordinance No. 612 would modify fees for obtaining Use and Occupancy
certificates and rental property licenses. Ordinance No. 613
provides for a “Sprinkler System Ordinance.” Both ordinances will be
considered for adoption at the Borough Council meeting on June 12th
at 7 pm. The REALTORS Legislative Alliance (RLA) has copies of both
ordinances and staff have been in contact with the Borough. Please
contact Erin Smist at the RLA with any questions at 610-981-9000 or
email esmist@rladirect.com.
Are you tuned in to your local community and its
regulations/ordinances? If yes, please consider participating in the
Municipal Key Contacts Program. The RLA is seeking member volunteers
to be the eyes and ears for the organization in local municipalities
so that the organization can quickly respond to issues that arise.

Proposed Pipeline Draws East Brandywine Residents’ Ire
Between 60 and 100 people voiced their concerns and strong
opposition to AES Corp.’s plans to build an 87-mile natural gas
pipeline between Sparrow’s Point, Md., and Eagle. The Federal Energy
Regulatory Commission (FERC), the federal agency charged with
approving or disapproving the proposed gas pipeline, sponsored the
forum.
AES figures from its project Web site show the pipeline would
convey 1.5 billion cubic feet of compressed natural gas along its
route. Much of the pipeline would be built within a right of way
controlled by Columbia Gas Co., ferrying gas from a shipping
terminal along the Chesapeake Bay to a terminal off Fellowship Road
in Upper Uwchlan. The pipeline will link at interaction points with
pipelines owned by Transco and Texas Eastern, in addition to
Columbia Gas.
Agency Project Manager Joanne Wachholder said the gas company
had yet to submit a formal proposal to the federal government, but
public comments from the meeting would be used to formulate a draft
environmental impact statement (EIS).
The proposed pipeline follows a course through Lower Oxford
at the southern extreme of Chester County, in a northeasterly
direction, through Upper Oxford, Highland, Londonderry, East
Fallowfield, Newlin, West Bradford, Caln, Downingtown, East
Brandywine and Uwchlan before ending in Upper Uwchlan. Those with
concerns have until June 16 to submit comments to FERC. (Source:
