Update on Sprinkler Ordinances in Aston,
Collingdale, Sharon
Hill and Folcroft
The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry has issued
cease and desist orders to the townships of Aston, Collingdale,
Sharon Hill and Folcroft regarding their sprinkler ordinances.
Thanks to the diligent effort of property holders and REALTORS in
those areas, along with the organizational support from the REALTORS
Legislative Alliance and the Home Builder’s Association, these
ordinances should no longer be enforced. The RLA will continue to
monitor these municipalities closely to ensure these practices have
been stopped. Please contact the RLA at 610- 981-9000 or esmist@rladirect.com with any
questions or concerns specific to the issue of sprinkler
ordinances.

Respect for Contingency Options
in the
Agreement of
Sale
All contingencies whether for inspections, financing or
insurance come with consequences if not met. Best ethical practice
for all REALTORS is to guide the client to careful observation and
strict adherence to the deadlines set by the contingency. If an
extension is necessary, it can be requested using the Change in
Terms Addendum (CTA) or the Reply to Inspection Report (RR). Advise
your client that failure to reply or act on a contingency option
does not extend the option and, in fact, may deprive the client of
other options.
