·         UPDATE--Rental Property and Inspection Ordinance PASSED in SpringfieldOn Tuesday, May 10, Springfield Township Commissioners PASSED a rental property and inspection ordinance.  The ordinance requires rental owners to pay an annual use fee of $50 per unit, plus inspection fee as follows: $50 per single family unit; $25 for each individual apartment unit; and $10 for each additional inspection required prior to issuance.  Exterior and common area inspections could occur annually, while interior inspections are mandated upon change of leasee or owner.  For additional information, please contact RLA Headquarters at 610-981-9000.

 

·         Commercial/Industrial Marketing Exchange Meeting Tomorrow, May 13—The Commercial/Industrial Marketing Exchange will next convene at the Association’s office in Malvern tomorrow (May 13) from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.  This month’s meeting will feature a presentation on Title Issues from a Commercial/Industrial Perspective from member Patricia Bogdanovich of Heritage Land Transfer and others.  The meeting also provides an opportunity to network with upwards of 30 other members and discuss any “haves” and “wants” of your clients.

·         Standard Forms Forum, Thursday, May 19, 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. – A new agreement for the sale of residential real estate is scheduled to be released in the fall of 2005. Suburban West REALTORS Association is hosting Hank Lerner, Esquire, Director of Member and Legal Services for the Pennsylvania Association of REALTORS for this forum. This is an opportunity to learn what revisions were requested or mandated, what the standard forms committee did to address those issues and to express an opinion or ask questions.

·         Delaware County Bar Association Real Estate Practices Committee May 25, 2005 – The committee will convene its popular breakfast meeting this month on Wednesday, May 25th at the Little Inn, Media, PA. This month’s topic is “Tax Assessment Law Update” – Speakers: Joseph O’Brien, Esquire; Frank Wesner, Esquire; and Don Weis, Esquire. Cost for this event is $13.00 payable at the door. The fee covers the cost of breakfast and room expenses and will be charged to all attendees. Breakfast is served at 8:15 a.m., the session will begin at 8:45 a.m. and should end no later than 10:00 a.m. Advance Reservation is required. ¨       Members Receive Prestigious PAR Excellence Award—The Pennsylvania Association of REALTORS has recognized the following members of the Suburban West REALTORS Association as their 2004 recipients of the prestigious PAR Excellence Awards: Lee B. Greenwood (D. Patrick Welsh, Swarthmore); Maureen Greim (Long & Foster, Exton); Lynne Norris (Century 21 Norris, Phoenixville); Carolyn L. Sabatelli (Weichert REALTORS, Media); Brian Slater (Century 21 Norris, Phoenixville); and Theresa Tarquinio (RE/MAX Professional Realty, Exton).  

 

This award is issued annually by the Pennsylvania Association of REALTORS honoring those REALTORS who have displayed initiative and leadership in their occupation and exemplify the REALTOR spirit of accomplishment.  These six individuals have exhibited a high standard of professionalism through active participation in National, State or Local Association activities; business activity; and pursuit of education in the real estate field.  The Suburban West REALTORS Association congratulates these six individuals for receiving this significant honor.

 

¨       Uniform Construction Code – The Association of REALTORS School presents “A Practical Guide to UCC” on May 19, 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The course will cover municipal enforcement issues relating to the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code. Students will receive useful information about the new law and tips on how to provide the best support for their clients. Tuition is $35.00. The course is approved for 3.5 hours of 2004-2006 PA Real Estate License renewal.
