Discussion Question

Each month, the Suburban West REALTORS Association will provide Association Liaisons with a question in which we are seeking member feedback on.   We urge you to discuss this question with agents at your office during a sales meeting, through an email, or during the course of your daily conversations when appropriate.

This MONTH's Question:

The Association provides REALTORS with a customer service tool by offering Mediation to buyers and sellers as an alternative to costly and time-consuming litigation.  Do you promote Mediation to your clients?  If not, what reasons do they, or you, give for waiving it?

Please provide your response to Mary Lim at mlim@suburbanwestrealtors.com.

Work Smart

Work Smart: Helping Buyers Through Tough Terrain

Credit scores are more important than ever to lenders.  The best way for buyers to improve their score is to pay their bills on time, even if they can afford only the minimum payment.  NAR's REALTOR Magazine features a crash course in financing.  This is part of a series of articles, called "Work Smart", to help both new and experienced practioners master the basics of the real estate buisness. To learn how you can ensure buyers can come up with the money to buy the home they've chosen and to view the 'Mortgage Math Made Easy', click here.

Do You Know Who You're Selling To?

RISMEDIA featured an article on the importance of getting to know different buyer types.  Buyers tend to fall into four basic behavioral types: the Direct Type, the Interpersonal Buyer, the Safety or Status Quo Type, and the Contemplative Buyer.  In order to be successful, you must tailor your approach and message very differently to each type of buyer, says Bayham Consulting LLC President Alan Bayham.  Statistics show that professionals who try to use the same message will be effective only 25% of the time, because the approach and message will be effective only for that one buyer type.
