Communities
in Focus: Homeowners'
Associations
Homeowners'
Associations (HOA) are becoming more of a presence in the real
estate process. They may have a real impact on not only
the marketability of a property, but the settlement process as
well.
HOAs
represent the fastest form of housing today. Many
buyers, whether purchasing in an existing community or new
construction, will find themselves under the auspices of such
homeowners groups. In many ways, a homeowners'
association may essentially function like an governing entity,
associations provide services, regulate activities, levy taxes
(assessments), and impose fines. Unlike a municipal
government; however, homeowners' associations are not subject
to the Constitutional constraits that public government must
abide by.

Studies Find Direct
Evidence Linking Radon in Homes to Lung
Cancer
REALTORS
know that homeowners have an option to make the Aggreement of
Sale contingent on a radon inspection. But not everyone
understands the risks associated with radon.
Two
studies show definitive evidence linking residential radon
exposure and lung cancer. The article provides further
explanations and links for handouts to give to
consumers. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) launched a new series of television, radio, and print
public service announcements encouraging people to test and
fix their homes for radon.
