NAR Links to Credit Prescreening Opt-Out Site

As part of the National Association of REALTORS' (NAR) efforts to help consumers prevent identity theft and help ensure they have the best credit rating when they purchase a home, NAR is including a link on Realtor.org to a credit-reporting industry website. Consumers are enabled to opt-out of having their credit information sent to third parties under what's known as credit prescreening.

Credit prescreening is the process by which credit bureaus evaluate loan applicants' credit data and develop lists for sale to third parties who either sell the information to credit providers or make offers of credit themselves. Often, these lists result in unsolicited offers of credit through a variety of communication methods, including direct mail. Often such offers fall into the hands of identity thieves. Therefore, opting out of prescreening can be a good way to reduce this risk.

Planning For the Future of Chester County: Landscapes 2 Project

The Landscapes 2 initiative revisits Chester County planning objectives by connecting the patterns of growth and need for preservation within the community. This plan will serve to better guide municipalities, developers, preservationists, and many others in setting priorities for where and how the county will grow. The initiatives set forth in Landscapes ten years ago will be built upon and emerging trends within the county will be addressed.

For an analysis of the overall impact of Landscapes 2 on Chester County's evolving development patterns, click here.

You and your colleagues are also invited to take a survey to help shape Chester County’s growth and preservation priorities. The answers the community provides will serve as an important component to this re-visioning process in collecting, analyzing, and incorporating public input. This is a unique opportunity for residents to weigh in on the issues and concerns matter most to them and help guide planning for Chester County’s future.

PA Department of Labor and Industry Declares Sharon Hill Sprinkler Ordinance Disapproved, Null, and Void

The section of Sharon Hill Ordinance 1311 requiring single-family owner occupied dwellings converted to single-family or multi-family rental units to be retrofitted with sprinkler systems has been declared disapproved, null, and void, as exceeding the minimum requirements set for in the Uniform Construction Code (UCC). The Borough failed to establish that clear and convincing local climatic, geologic, and topographical or public health and safety circumstances or conditions justify the exception to the code. Sharon Hill is currently appealing this ruling.
