Association Liaison E-Alert

The Association Liaison E-Alert is designed to provide the most up-to-date information available on hot topics and issues. This message will be distributed on an as needed basis and we hope that you will utilize the information to further enhance your role as liaison for the Association to your office.

Do Not Call Policy Requirements

The Federal Communications Commission regulations on do not call require firms to have a WRITTEN policy for maintaining a Do Not Call list within their office. The policy is to be made available upon request. The National Association of REALTORS has alerted REALTORS to instances where individuals are requesting the written policy and threatening brokers with lawsuits for not producing the policy. Subsequently, the individual settles with the broker - 'out of court' - for a fee as high as $5,000. Suburban West REALTORS Association has been alerted to at least one instance locally.

The ploy does have some basis in the law. Brokers are encouraged to check their written Do Not Call policies and if one is not available to create one as soon as possible.

Annual Leadership Symposium & Luncheon

Achieving Excellence in Leadership in Your Professional and Personal Life

All members are invited to attend our 1st Annual Leadership Symposium & Luncheon, featuring the topic Achieving Excellence in Leadership Professionally and Personally. Event will be held on January 11, 2007 from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Valley Forge Military Academy.

The event will include a presentation from Richard Mendenhall, a nationally-recognized industry speaker and former President of the National Association of REALTORS, whose presentations have motivated thousands of REALTORS at past conferences. Also, this is a special event for the organization as we will honor the Board of Directors and install our 2007 Chairman, David Brant. Members will also be able to network over lunch in a very unique location. Registration announcement will be forthcoming.
