¨       Association Sponsors Local School Competitions—As part of our ongoing community service initiatives, the Suburban West REALTORS Association is proud to continue its partnership with local schools.  The Association has sponsored two recent events to promote academic excellence—the interscholastic It’s Mathematical Competition and the 12th Haverford High School’s Annual Speaking Contest.

The It’s Mathematical Competition presents academically gifted students from Conestoga, Delco-Christian, Marple-Newtown and Radnor school districts an opportunity to compete six times a year in a college-bowl style tournament.  The tournament culminated on April 5 at Radnor High School with the host school winning the competition. Member volunteer Annice Venable represented the Association at the event and presented trophies to the participants.

On April 26, the Suburban West REALTORS® Association sponsored Haverford High School’s Annual Speaking Contest.  This event featured five students presenting a 5 to 7 minute speech based on the theme of “formalities”.  10th grader Jenna Brandow was picked by a panel of five judges to be the winner for her adaptation of Dave Barry’s “What Is and Ain’t Grammatical”.  11th grader Talia Kassie finished second for her original presentation “God Bless You”.  Association Chairman Brian Kane presented Jenna and Talia with savings bonds for their outstanding speeches.

The Association is proud to carry on the longstanding tradition of REALTORS® who give back to the local communities they work in and later this year we look forward to assisting Habitat For Humanity of Chester County and the American Cancer Society with the 5K Run For Home and Golf Classic, respectively.
