The Weekly News Service is an exclusive benefit available to members of the Suburban West REALTORS Association. Featuring both Association news and local real estate industry information, the Weekly News is a service meant to benefit all members of the organization.

Association Office Schedule During The Holidays
snowflakes On behalf of the Suburban West REALTORS Association, we hope that all members have a happy and safe holiday season. In considering business you may have with the Association over the next week or so, please take note of the following office closings.

The Association's office will close today (December 21) at 2 p.m. for the Annual Staff holiday party. The office will reopen on Thursday, December 22 at 8 a.m.

The Association's office will close at 4 p.m. on Friday, December 23 and will remain closed on Monday, December 26 in observance of the Christmas holiday. The office will reopen on Tuesday, December 27 at 8 a.m.

The Association's office will close at 4 p.m. on Friday, December 30 and will remain closed on Monday, January 2 in observance of the New Year's Holiday. The office will reopen on Tuesday, January 3 at 8 a.m.

Please note that the Association will maintain its regular schedule (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) on all the week days not mentioned above.

Membership Dues Deadline Is December 31
The 2006 membership dues for REALTOR membership are due December 31, 2005. Members who do not remit payment of $302 by this date will pay an additional 10% ($30.20) fee in January.

Payment can be made by check (made payable to SWRA), money order, credit card (Visa or MasterCard), or cash. Members can also log on to the Online Registration and Payment Center and pay via credit card. Once logged in, members will click on the link “Click Here to Pay Outstanding Invoices."

Welcome Reception for 2006 Board of Directors on January 12
tyson All members are invited to attend the Suburban West REALTORS Association’s Welcome Reception for the 2006 Board of Directors and the Association’s new Chairman, Harrison “Bud” Tyson. This special event will be held on Thursday, January 12 at the Waynesborough Country Club in Paoli from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. While it provides an opportunity to meet the leadership of the organization, this event also is a great chance to network with other members. Additionally, the reception features a one- hour open bar, butlered hors d’oeuvres, carving stations, and a delectable dessert buffet. Please note that optional valet parking will be available.

Association Toy Drive A Success
The Suburban West REALTORS Association is pleased to report that members of the organization donated more than 300 toys to less fortunate children throughout the area. The organization has given the donated toys to three tremendous organizations for further distribution: Head Start; Domestic Relations (Delaware County); and the Marine Corps Toys For Tots Campaign.

Interested in Joining the 2006 Chester County REALTOR/Lawyer Committee
legal Reservations for the 2006 Chester County REALTOR/Lawyer Committee are now being accepted. Meetings are held the first Thursday of each month at the Chester County Bar Association, 15 West Gay Street, West Chester, PA 19380. Meetings start promptly at Noon and end just as promptly at 1:00 p.m. Topics vary from guest speakers to open forum. The meetings are an opportunity for REALTORS® and Lawyers to meet and discuss issues of mutual interest. The annual fee for this committee is $60 which covers lunch served during the meeting. Delaware County OKs Budget
Delaware County Council, Dec. 13, gave final approval to a 2006 budget of $293,747,000 with no tax increase for the second consecutive year. The tax rate will remain at 4.45 mills, which means the owner of a property assessed at the average of $128,000 will pay $569 in county taxes next year. (Source: County Press Online; 12/19/05)
